
Dr. G. Maheswari, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Department of Zoology, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, holds a Ph.D. in Zoology from Avinashilingam Deemed University (2004). Her specialization lies in Entomology and Post-Harvest Technology of stored grain pests and microbes using mechanical devices and botanicals. She has over two decades of teaching and research experience, contributing extensively to stored grain pest management, nanoformulations, and biodegradation of plastics.
Dr. Maheswari has published several research papers in reputed journals, including Journal of Stored Products Research, Indian Journal of Entomology, and Research Journal of Biotechnology. She has authored and edited books, contributed book chapters, and guided 28 postgraduate research projects, many of which received recognition and funding. Her research interests include AI-based pest detection, bioformulations of entomopathogenic fungi, and smart systems for monitoring stored grain quality and pest infestation. She has also filed two patents arising from her research and innovation activities.
She has organized several national and international conferences, workshops, training programmes, and outreach activities in collaboration with TNAU, ICFRE, and other academic and governmental organizations. She has served as NSS Programme Officer, Eco Club Coordinator, and Member of the Innovation and Incubation Centre.
Her academic excellence has been recognized with the Professor P. Kameswara Rao Award (AZRA, 2015–16), Environmental Research Promotion and Development Award (ICEE, 2022), and multiple best presentation awards. Dr. Maheswari continues to integrate teaching, research, innovation, technology development, and community engagement in advancing Zoological education and sustainable science.
