Ambika Tiruwa is a Research Scholar in the Department of Zoology, D.S.B. Campus, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India, working under the supervision of Prof. Manoj Kumar Arya. She is an emerging researcher in the field of Entomology, with specialized interests in butterfly diversity, pollination ecology, insect biodiversity, and Himalayan ecosystem conservation. Her research reflects a strong commitment toward understanding ecological interactions and biodiversity patterns within the fragile ecosystems of the Western Himalaya. Her scientific work primarily focuses on the diversity, distribution, and ecological significance of swallowtail butterflies (Family: Papilionidae) across the Kumaun Himalaya and Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Through systematic field surveys and ecological assessments conducted along varying elevational gradients, she has contributed valuable baseline information regarding species richness and habitat associations of butterfly communities in Himalayan landscapes. Her studies emphasize the importance of butterflies as ecological indicators of environmental health and biodiversity stability. Ms. Tiruwa has also contributed significantly to pollination ecology and insect-plant interaction studies in the Himalayan region. Her research on the “Bio-Spectrum of Flower Visiting Insects and their Role in Pollination Service of an Indigenous Himalayan Shrub (Deutzia staminea R. Br. ex Wall.)” highlights the ecological role of flower-visiting insects in maintaining pollination services and ecosystem functioning in mountain habitats. In addition, she has contributed to ecological studies on insect diversity in protected area networks of the Kumaun Region and to the faunal documentation of Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, strengthening scientific understanding of Himalayan biodiversity and regional conservation priorities. Her academic work further includes studies on species diversity and seasonal dynamics of insects in high-altitude ecosystems of Uttarakhand, reflecting her broader interest in ecological monitoring and climate-sensitive biodiversity research. She has published seven quality research papers in reputed national and international journals and has actively participated in several scientific conferences and academic forums related to biodiversity, ecology, and insect sciences. Her expertise includes butterfly taxonomy and identification, ecological field surveys, biodiversity assessment, pollination studies, and ecological data analysis. Recognized for her growing scientific contributions and dedication to ecological research, Ms. Tiruwa has been nominated for the International Best Researcher Award (IISTAC 2026).
