
Shivani is a dedicated researcher and aspiring academician in the field of Home Science, with a specialization in Human Development. She completed her Master’s degree in Human Development, where her primary academic focus was on assessing the mental health and psychological well-being of adults. Her postgraduate training helped her build a strong foundation in understanding emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of human behavior across different stages of life.
Currently, Shivani is pursuing her Ph.D. in Home Science, with a specialized research focus on body image dissatisfaction and eating disorders among young adults. Her research aims to explore the psychological, social, and cultural factors influencing body image perceptions and disordered eating patterns, particularly among women. She is especially interested in examining the role of self-esteem, social anxiety, and societal pressures in shaping unhealthy eating behaviors and negative body image. Through her work, she seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of these issues and support the development of effective, evidence-based interventions.
Shivani qualified the UGC NET-JRF examination in December 2025, reflecting her academic excellence and research aptitude. This achievement has strengthened her commitment to pursuing high-quality research and contributing meaningfully to the academic community. Her academic interests are rooted in addressing contemporary mental health concerns and promoting psychological well-being.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Shivani has gained practical experience through internships in diverse settings, including child welfare organizations and old age homes. These experiences have allowed her to work closely with different population groups and understand the psychosocial challenges they face. Her exposure to both children and the elderly has broadened her perspective on developmental processes and mental health issues across the lifespan.
Her core research interests include body image, eating disorders, mental health, and psychosocial development. She is particularly inclined toward interdisciplinary research that integrates psychological, social, and cultural perspectives. Shivani aspires to build a career in teaching and academia and is committed to contributing to knowledge generation in human development while making a meaningful societal impact through her research.
