Dr. Shahul Hameed Faizee is a distinguished academician, orthodontist, and healthcare administrator with over twenty-three years of extensive experience in dental education, clinical practice, research, and institutional leadership.
With a strong foundation in contemporary orthodontics, he has developed recognized expertise in surgical orthodontics, clear aligner therapy, skeletal anchorage systems, functional appliance therapy, and the management of cleft lip and palate. His career reflects a consistent commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the advancement of dental sciences.
He currently serves as Dean and Head of the Department at Sathyabama Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, where he plays a pivotal role in academic governance, institutional development, and quality assurance. Prior to assuming this leadership position in 2022, he served as Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at the same institution from 2016 to 2022.
His earlier academic appointments include serving as Professor at Ragas Dental College and Hospital from 2008 to 2016 and as Associate Professor at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research from 2003 to 2008. These progressive roles have enabled him to gain comprehensive experience in teaching, administration, curriculum development, and faculty mentorship.
Dr. Faizee holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Dental Surgery with specialization in Orthodontics from Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, completed in 2024. He earned his Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University in 2001, following his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Annamalai University in 1996.

A dedicated academic leader, Dr. Faizee has contributed significantly to institutional quality assurance and accreditation processes. He has served as Coordinator for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), ISO standardization initiatives, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and has also been a Board Member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening academic systems, enhancing institutional standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Dr. Faizee has been actively involved in professional organizations and academic communities. He served as Convenor of the Madras Orthodontic Study Group, leading it to achieve recognition as the best orthodontic study group in India for three consecutive years.
