Ahaan Chhatwal

Ahaan Chhatwal is a Grade 11 student at Jamnabai Narsee International School, Mumbai. He achieved a perfect score of 56/56 in his IB MYP Grade 10 assessments, placing him amongst the top 0.02% of MYP candidates globally. He has shown keen involvement in current affairs and global issues through his workshop “Citizens of Tomorrow”, interacting with pre-teens to facilitate learning. This paper is the first of his two collaborative research projects of 2020, exploring interstate migration in India. His second research work is an article on Indian Education during COVID-19 published by Institute H21, wherein he employed the Janeček Voting Method to obtain data and draw conclusions. Previously in the summer of 2019, he attended the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Program on International Relations: the ethics of war. During his 3 weeks at Stanford University, he developed a research paper on the ethical choices that prevented the Cuban Missile Crisis from escalating.

Ahaan has taken on the role of a social entrepreneur as the “CEO4Good” of the AIME Education Program, leading the Mumbai Chapter of AIME’s Global Crowdfunding Campaign. Over a period of 150 days, he has lead his team to raise a total of around Rs 5 lakh to directly support AIME in ending educational inequality in the school communities where it’s involved. To further support marginalised children in their education, he has carried out a collection drive for spare laptops and tablets over 3 consecutive years. Ahaan has contributed to the renovation project of painting and paving the Samarth Krupa Vidhyadhaam Old Age Home in Alibaug to support the senior citizens of the faculty.

Ahaan is also a national level sprinter for the 200m and 400m, and is passionate to take forward his journey on the track alongside his academics.
