Tushar Adhikari

Tushar Adhikari is an academician and researcher in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (GNIPST), Kolkata. With over three years of teaching, research, and administrative experience since August 2022, he has actively contributed to both the academic and institutional development spheres. His teaching is complemented by a deep involvement in phytochemical and analytical research, particularly focusing on flavonoids as bioactive compounds with immunomodulatory potential.

He completed his Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from GNIPST, Kolkata, in 2022, securing First Class Honours with 81.83% marks. Prior to that, he earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree from Adamas University, Barasat, with First Class Honours in 2020. His foundational education includes a Higher Secondary qualification under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education in 2016 and a Secondary Examination under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 2014, both with First Division marks.

Mr. Adhikari’s M.Pharm dissertation titled “Profiling of Immunomodulatory Flavonoids from Leafy Vegetables Available in West Bengal” marked the beginning of his journey in phytochemistry and bioanalytical research. His research expertise encompasses extraction, fractionation, isolation, purification, and characterization of phytoconstituents through chromatographic techniques such as HPTLC, TLC, Column Chromatography, and Preparative Chromatography, as well as spectroscopic techniques like UV, IR, and AAS. He also possesses experience in Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD), particularly molecular docking, 2D and 3D QSAR, and pharmacophore generation.

Over the years, he has authored and co-authored several research papers in national and international journals of repute. His publications reflect a multidisciplinary approach combining natural product chemistry, analytical validation, and pharmacological evaluation. Some notable works include studies on the quantitative estimation of quercetin in various leafy vegetables and microgreens, comparative trace element analyses using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, and mechanistic insights into natural bioactive compounds such as apigenin. His publications in Pharmacognosy Research, Journal of Natural Remedies, Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, and International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research have contributed to advancing phytochemical research in regional medicinal plants.

Apart from his journal publications, he has co-authored book chapters published by AkiNik Publications and Integrated Publications, covering topics such as anthocyanin pigments, optical isomerism, and peptide synthesis in pharmaceutical organic chemistry. He has also presented several research papers and posters at national and international seminars, including at Jadavpur University, The Neotia University, Brainware University, and CSIR–IICB. His oral and poster presentations have earned him recognition for his work on flavonoid profiling, immunomodulation, and trace element estimation in edible plants.

Mr. Adhikari has served as a peer reviewer for 78 academic journals, including several internationally reputed and nationally recognized publications—an impressive feat for a young researcher. His commitment to professional development is reflected in his one-month industrial training at Indchemie Health Specialities Pvt. Ltd., East Sikkim, where he gained exposure to manufacturing, packaging, quality control, and assurance processes in both parenteral and solid dosage forms. He is also a life member of the Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association (IPGA), Bengal Branch.
