T.PRIYANKA

I am Dr. T. Priyanka, MD (Siddha), a dedicated physician and researcher in the field of Siddha medicine with a strong focus on pediatric care and lifestyle disorders. My academic journey in Siddha began with the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) program at the Government Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai, where I gained a strong foundation in traditional Siddha principles, diagnostic methods, and holistic management practices. This undergraduate training not only deepened my interest in the classical wisdom of Siddha but also encouraged me to explore its relevance in addressing contemporary health challenges.

Following my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Postgraduate degree in Kuzhanthai Maruthuvam (Siddha Pediatrics) at the Government Siddha Medical College, Chennai. During this specialized training, I was able to bridge my clinical skills with a deeper understanding of child health, preventive care, and management of chronic pediatric illnesses through Siddha perspectives. My postgraduate phase was intellectually enriching, providing me with opportunities to design and execute research projects that explored both classical Siddha texts and modern scientific methodologies.

I have authored and co-authored several research publications that have been published in reputed peer-reviewed journals. My publications span diverse areas, including the management of spasticity in children with cerebral palsy, which highlights the potential of Siddha interventions in neurodevelopmental disorders. I have also contributed work on Siddha-based eye medications referenced in classical literature, reflecting the relevance of traditional formulations in addressing ocular health. Furthermore, I have conducted clinical studies from a Siddha perspective in pediatric care, emphasizing safe, holistic, and effective treatment modalities for children.

In recognition of my academic excellence and research contributions, I was awarded 30 credit points by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. Adding to this honor, I was also conferred with the Best Researcher Award 2024 during the University Research Day, which was a significant milestone in my academic career.

My long-term vision is to promote Siddha medicine as an evidence-based, globally recognized system of healthcare, particularly in the domains of pediatric health and lifestyle disorders. My heartfelt thanks to the ISSN team for honoring my project with this recognition.
