
Merina Khwairakpam hails from Manipur in North East India, where her journey of determination and academic excellence began. Born to a humble cultivator and a dedicated homemaker, she grew up in a family that deeply valued hard work, integrity, and education. Her parents’ unwavering commitment to educating all four of their children shaped Merina’s outlook on life and instilled in her a strong sense of independence and responsibility. Merina completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, during which she was awarded the prestigious Ishan Uday Scholarship for her academic merit. She went on to pursue her Master’s degree at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Hyderabad, where she further strengthened her expertise in agricultural sciences. Her dedication earned her the ICAR Postgraduate Scholarship, one of the most competitive scholarships in the field. Continuing her pursuit of higher education, Merina is currently enrolled in the PhD program at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (DRPCAU), Pusa and receiving the UGC NFSC Scholarship in recognition of her academic promise and research potential. Alongside her academic achievements, she has successfully qualified both the UGC NET and the ASRB NET, marking her readiness for advanced research and academic positions. Beyond her academic accomplishments, Merina is shaped by strong family values and a deep appreciation for her roots. She believes in the importance of family support, cultural grounding, and maintaining a sense of humility despite success. Her upbringing has cultivated independence, resilience, and a strong commitment to contributing meaningfully to her field and her community. Merina’s journey reflects not only personal dedication but also the strength of values passed down through generations values that continue to guide her as she builds a future in research, education, and service.
