Dr. Prof. Uma Perwal, born on August 6, 1965, in Badi Kasrawad, District Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, is a Distinguished Professor and Educator in Nursing. She is the daughter of Late Shri Nandram Niroge and Late Shrimati Nanubai Niroge. Her early education took place at the Government Girls School in Khargone, where she developed a deep passion for learning and healthcare.
She pursued her B.Sc. Nursing (1990) from Devi Ahilya University, Indore (DAVV), followed by an M.Sc. Nursing (2010) from DAVV, Indore. Expanding her multidisciplinary expertise, she also completed M.A. Sociology (1992) and LLB (1995) from DAVV, Indore.
Dr. Perwal is the proud mother of two accomplished sons, Dr. Sarthak Perwal (Surgeon) and Dr. Sudarshan Perwal (Physician).
Her academic journey reached its peak when she earned a PhD in Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing (2019-2022) from Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur. She dedicated her PhD to the loving memory of her parents, Late Shri Nandram Niroge and Late Shrimati Nanubai Niroge, recognizing their role in shaping her values.
Currently, she serves as a Professor at the Government College of Nursing, Indore. Her dedication to teaching has made her a student favorite and a respected educator known for her leadership and guidance. She has also contributed to healthcare administration, having worked with the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council, Bhopal.
Recently, on March 23, 2025, she was awarded the International Best Researcher Award for Research & Excellence in Nursing at Jennys Residency, India, during the International Science & Technology Awards, Coimbatore (ISTAC) 2025.
Dr. Uma Perwal has published research articles in prestigious journals like the International Journal of Nursing Excellence & Research and the International Journal of Advance in Nursing Management.
She continues to pursue excellence and advancement in nursing research and development, making a lasting impact on healthcare education and research.
