Naveen Kumar Bangalore Ramaiah

Naveen Kumar Bangalore Ramaiah is a scientist specializing in advanced image processing and artificial intelligence. He currently serves as a Senior Camera Engineer at HP Inc., where he leads the development of next-generation smart conferencing systems. His work focuses on enabling 360° viewing, AI-powered intelligent framing, and seamless multi-camera integration-advancing hybrid meeting technologies and enhancing digital collaboration. He is also focused on perception, stereo depth, and monocular ML-based depth estimation for video conferencing applications.

He pursued graduate studies at San Jose State University, specializing in image processing, feature extraction, and computer vision. This academic foundation enabled him to take on impactful roles in real-world applications of AI and perception.

As a Researcher at Hitachi America Ltd., Naveen contributed to stereo vision and perception systems for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD). He developed real-time sensing solutions to detect road hazards such as potholes and debris-many of which were successfully integrated into commercial vehicles to improve ride comfort and safety.

His research also included multimodal sensor fusion, combining LiDAR, radar, visible light, and thermal imaging to improve perception reliability in challenging conditions. These innovations were showcased in a prototype vehicle at CES 2019 and drew interest from major automotive manufacturers including GM, Ford, and Nissan. In 2021, he was invited to speak at the WCX™ World Congress Digital Summit on the future of ADAS and vehicle safety.

Naveen is also an inventor, with five granted patents across the United States, Japan, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), along with additional pending applications—primarily in the area of multi-camera perception for autonomous vehicles. His work has been cited by companies such as Ford, Volvo, and Subaru, highlighting its impact on navigation and road safety. His research has been published in respected journals from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Institute of Physics (IOP), focusing on perception systems and the application of convolutional neural networks (CNNs).

In addition to his automotive work, Naveen has led innovations in intelligent video conferencing. He holds a pending WIPO patent for an AI-based system that identifies participants across multiple cameras, ranks available video streams, and automatically switches to the best view—enhancing the quality and efficiency of hybrid meetings.

At HP Inc., he continues to develop intelligent vision systems that solve real-world challenges in video and remote collaboration. His career blends technical depth, practical innovation, and a focus on building impactful user experiences.
